Seasonal programs
Florence has more for young people than you might think. Here's where to go, what to do, and how to get involved.
FDTC's campus on Cogdill Road has an open-door policy. Visit the library, grab coffee at the campus café, or walk the grounds. Francis Marion University also has public spaces, events, and sometimes free movie nights.
The Florence County Library (325 South Irby Street) has free WiFi, gaming events, study rooms, and teen programs. Boys and Girls Clubs at 310 West Roughfork Street is $10 per semester and open until 8 p.m.
Florence Little Theatre and the FMU Theatre sometimes host open mic or student nights. Check Facebook events for local showcases — Florence's music scene is small but alive, especially around downtown.
Downtown Florence is walkable, safe, and full of coffee shops and boutiques. Try The Coffee House, 5 In The Morning, or the new spots on West Palmetto. People-watch, explore shops, or grab a bite — no plan needed.
The City of Florence Skate Park at the Florence Recreation Complex is free and open to the public. Bring your board, bike, or skates. Timrod Park also has a disc golf course you can play for free.
United Way of Florence County and local nonprofits often need volunteers. Volunteering looks great on college apps and job resumes — and you meet people who matter.
