Florence is served by two different electric providers depending on your exact address, so which one applies to you depends on where you live, not just that you live in Florence.

Part of MPD Electric Cooperative (formed from the 2020 merger of Pee Dee Electric Cooperative and Marlboro Electric Cooperative). Serves residential and commercial customers across Florence, Darlington, Dillon, Chesterfield, Marlboro, Lee, and Marion counties — generally in more rural and outlying parts of the county.

For items the City can't collect curbside (large bulk items, electronics, hazardous materials), Florence County operates 15 drop-off sites throughout the county — open to city and county residents alike.
Find the closest one and what each site accepts at the Florence County recycling locations page (via des.sc.gov) or by calling the County Recycling Coordinator's office at 180 North Irby Street.
Curbside pickup isn't provided by the City here. Most residents either use the county drop-off site network above or contract directly with a private hauler such as Waste Management or Republic Services, both of which operate in the Florence area.
